Dr. Wayne P. Snodgrass, Pastor
REVEREND WAYNE PARKER SNODGRASS, a native of Huntsville, Alabama
was born to Mrs. Georgia P. Snodgrass and the late Rev. Dr. H. P.
Snodgrass. He was married to Evelyn Schumake for 34 years, and they had
one adult son, Israel and three grandchildren.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Alabama A&M University,
Masters of Divinity degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary,
Louisville, Kentucky and the Doctor of Ministry degree from United
Theological Seminary, in Dayton, Ohio.
In 1986, he became Pastor of Progressive Union Missionary Baptist Church,
where he is now the longest pastor in the history of the church. In an effort
to strengthen the membership of Progressive Union, Reverend Snodgrass
implemented a strong Christian education program. In 1994, with the
completion of the family life center, sufficient space was provided to
conduct additional educational and recreational ministries. There are five
Bible studies conducted weekly, new Sunday school classes added yearly,
and baptisms witnessed monthly.
In addition to Pastor of Progressive Union, Reverend Snodgrass is: an
instructor at Huntsville Bible College, Director of Graduate Studies at
Huntsville Bible College, Instructor in Progressive National Baptist
Convention, Life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and a Life
Member of the N.A.A.C.P. Reverend Snodgrass is the past President
of The Christian Education Congress of the Progressive National Baptist
Convention. He is author of two publications: “Journey from Cancer- From
diagnosis to deliverance” and “Holding on Through the Return”, which are
an account of his wife’s battle with uterine cancer.
He has received numerous awards and citations which include Pi Tau Chi
National Honor Society in Religion, Outstanding Young Man in America,
Pastor of the Year and others. He continues to faithfully serve God, his
church, and the community.
