It is the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed.
I want to take this time and wish you all a very blessed October. So many things will be going on this month that will really be a blessing to us. The first thing will be the celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each year our nation and especially our community set aside a time to pay special attention to the dreaded disease of cancer as well as focusing on breast cancer. There are so many women and men who have suffered with this disease, many of them have been a part of our congregation. Many of them have been successful, and some others have not been so, but the journey can be a victory.
It is difficult to believe that this month will also mark 5 years since the passing of Lady Evelyn. She was not a breast cancer patient, but she had uterine cancer. Through it all she taught us bravery, she taught us Faith, and she taught us strength. We were blessed by her strength and courage through those days. I have to acknowledge that in addition to the two books written about her situation, I also learned so much more about cancer and many of its accompanying elements. Thanks be to all of you who have mentioned her so fondly from time to time. It means much to me that she meant so much to so many of you.
Our youth will be involved with the annual Youth Retreat. We pray God’s blessing and inspiration on them all. It is always a blessing when our youth attend the various Retreat locations that we visit. I pray God’s continued anointing on every counselor, mentor, certainly on the efforts of Sister Wanda Rice.
We also will take this time to encourage the associates ministers. We are thankful for their assistance each Sunday in the ministry, and each month in the various perspectives of ministerial assistance. Thank you all for your professionalism.
My thanks to all of you who share with us in helping Progressive Union each month to be a Church in the Word, Making a Difference in the World.
